I'm just, for lack of a better expression, blaaaaah about everything lately. I feel callous, unaffectionate, uninspired, jaded, and overall could just not care less about anything right now. I show up to work and just don't give a shit about putting forth the extra effort like I used to. I show up to school, errrrr when I show up, and just don't have the drive to print anything new. When I'm out with my camera nothing seems to strike me as photograpically worthy. Oh and I'm growing a disgusting gut and can't get motivated to start working out again. I don't feel nearly as attractive anymore, for other things as well as my gut. And I might have a gambling problem.

My external harddrive, a really nice collection of stuff, and more importantly the place where every photo I've taken in the last six years was stored, FUCKING DIED!!

It will cost anywhere between $500 and $1700 to have it restored. I have no choice but to suck it up and do it. There goes my tax return.

But that's not the only reason is year is fucking shitty.

I'm starting to talk myself out of this photo project idea. But there has got to be another way to do it. Having doubts about what words to use, as the "Over My Head" lyrics leave little room to paint a picture. More frustrating is how to super-impose the words onto the photo itself. I've been testing the idea of writing on blank negatives with sharpie and just laying them on the paper, but it's inconsistent and slightly distracting. The lovely Kate Sanker suggests using transparencies and smaller text so that the viewer has to come in for a closer look. I think I'll have to try that.

But first, I need to shoot some fucking film!!

This year has been very good for me so far. New friends, new jobs, new ink coming soon (the goal is by the end of March), good play, brand new contact lenses, I can't really complain right now.

Oh, and this photo project is going to fucking rule if I can pull it off.

And I have a crush on Kate Sanker. Yeah, the Kate Sanker. (But then, who DOESN'T have a crush on her?)

Lori got herself a political job, which will lead to campaign work. She's finally happy with her job. I'm so proud of her.

I'm going to be a whole new person by the time I turn 26. But I'm still going to act like I'm a twelve-year-old.

Downside to today: Having to actually wear a tie to work. Stupid new district managers.

The Semester Starts Now...

Today I'm beginning testing and experimenting on what I hope will be accepted as my semester project for Photo III.

TEST #1: In an attempt to create very high contrast negatives, I'll shoot a roll of Ilford HP5 400ISO with the camera set on ISO100. Will also be using a red filter, and developing it for longer. On second thought, that might be a lot to do for one roll. Probably should spread it out onto a couple.

TEST #2: Slightly unrelated, pending results, but I want to develop a roll of C41 color film in black and white chemicals. (Ilfosol 1:9 dillution)

Any of my photo friends know something that I don't?

PS - Turns out my package has the wrong zip code on it. That is why it keeps going to Florida. Fuckers!

This is the tracking information on an order of mine from Amazon. Now usually Amazon purchases ship very quickly and there are no problems. But, this package seems to be stuck in an alternate fucking reality, where only three cities exist...

I gotta new job, in addition to Walgreens...

I'm a photographer for Mastershots. We do youth sports photography. We have a lot of out of town accounts and I'll be traveling most every weekend I'm scheduled with them (at this point I'm only every other weekend). Most assignments are three days long, and frequently 10 hour days. I get paid $10 an hour, plus paid travel (company van), a percentage of sales as a bonus, hotel room and meal per dium. Meeting new people, who so far seem like lots of fun, and an oppurtunity to get out of the Bi-State region more often.

...And one of my coworkers is a hot chick with lots of ink. I think I'm going to like this job.
